My journey into birth work began with the birth of my first son.
I felt alone and overwhelmed throughout pregnancy and postpartum. The postpartum depression hit around 3 months, having a considerable impact on my relationship with my husband, and with myself.
When I found out I was pregnant with my second babe, I decided immediately that I was going to have a different experience than the first time around. I wanted to take control and do what I could to achieve the birth experience I had wanted the first time around. In reality, the pregnancy and birth unfolded in the same exact manner. I was left feeling confused, and like I had let myself down. I had fallen into the same paths, the same confusion.
This is why I decided the become a doula. I want to help birthing people and families to create a birth experience that they can be happy with. Birth is unpredictable, we all know that. But I believe that there are ways to prepare yourself to be proud of your unique experience, no matter how it unfolds.
I am a wife, a mother, a friend. I am a Registered Nurse, a volunteer fire/rescue member, an aspiring amateur outdoor enthusiast, and I am doing my best to be a good person in this world.
I would be honoured to help you along in your pregnancy and birth journey. If any of this resonates with you, feel free to reach out to me. I’m happy to meet you.
